Blown Away

I'm sure other businesses will be flocking to Michigan now that our income tax is going up.

I know SOMETHING had to be done, but it gets a little tiring to hear Gov. Granholm blame it all on Engler every chance she gets. Especially after what she said in 2006:
"In five years, you’re going to be blown away by the strength and diversity of Michigan’s transformed economy."
Today's Freep has a list of services to be taxed AND those that won't (link). I've included some of them below. Interestingly, legal, golf, marina, and accounting service fees WON'T be taxed (hmmmm).

Services that would be taxed:

  • Astrology
  • Baby shoe bronzing
  • Bail bonding
  • Balloon-o-grams
  • Dating services
  • Fortune-telling services
  • Numerology services
  • Palm-reading services
  • Psychic services
  • Singing telegrams
  • Tanning
  • Escort services
  • Massage
  • Armored cars

Services that would not be taxed (* = suspiciously omitted):

  • Cable or satellite television
  • Sports and concert tickets
  • Vehicle repair
  • Golf greens fees *
  • Marina fees *
  • Movies
  • Legal fees *
  • Accounting fees *
  • Haircuts
