Why Do I Bother?

Every week the New Yorker runs a "caption the cartoon" contest (link).

Last week, they had this prehistoric scene of cavemen encountering a giant gun.


My caption submission was "Cro-Magnum Man"

However, these three made the final cut:

• "So this is what killed the dinosaurs.”


• “What did you say happened to the last tenant?”


• “We're gonna need a bigger spear.”

None of them are funnier than my entry (if I do say so myself).
